Experience the best of New Zealand hunting.

Hunt in an awe-inspiring wilderness that time has forgotten and man has not yet fully explored. Spot animals from afar before stalking in close to the trophy of your choice. Glazebrook is rapidly becoming a favourite destination of hunters from Australia and around the world. You’ll need to be fit to stalk a roaring Red Stag on the steep scree slopes, or track a Fallow Buck through scrubby native forest. And you’ll need the utmost patience to spot the wary chamois in the rocky basins beneath the snow-clad mountainous peaks. But it’s an experience you will never forget. For those in search of the ultimate trophy, Glazebrook’s game estate offers over 3000 acres of extreme hunting, including trophy Red Stag and Fallow Buck. Chamois are hunted from the snow-capped mountain peaks, fully-guided and accessible by helicopter.

When is the best time to hunt in New Zealand?

The hunting season begins in late February and continues to the end of August. Our guides are high country specialists and work tirelessly to put you in the right place at the right time.

Select a month below
March
Autumn/Fall
Best for: Red Stag

The action builds throughout the month. Stags will progressively become more interested in the hinds and usually start occupying rutting territories by the second week of March. It is the availability of cycling hinds that motivates the love struck stags at this time of the year. With good numbers of hinds throughout the 9,000 ha property the stags spread far and wide to get their piece of the action. Stags will be roaring hard in the third and fourth week – to the point that it can be difficult to sleep! Fallow bucks may make a noise or two late in the month encouraged by the reds having a party but they come in to their own in April.

Testimonial

My experience at Glazebrook was great from beginning to end. The property was huge, picturesque and loaded with wild game. The accommodations were 5 star all the way, and the cook, Nicolette, was great. Finally, Snow (our guide), really made the hunt. He was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and just fun to be around. I am planning to come back again and would like to bring along my son. My cousin, who also joined us on the hunt, is already talking about another hunt too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I upgrade my New Zealand hunting trophy when I get there?
All packages can be upgraded by paying the difference between the stag identified in the package and a larger trophy. Additional stags not already included in your package are charged at the normal rate.
Should I take out travel insurance?
We recommend current medical and travel insurance including trip cancellation insurance. New Zealand does have a comprehensive public accident and rehabilitation cover which applies to residents and visitors to New Zealand.
If I book a Red Stag package, can I also hunt additional species?
Yes! At Glazebrook you can easily add on Fallow or Chamois.
Do you guarantee success in securing a NZ hunting trophy?
We guarantee plenty of opportunities throughout your 4-day hunt to secure a trophy.
Can I bring my own rifle or bow?
Absolutely. You will need to obtain a temporary New Zealand firearms licence on arrival. Which you pick up at the airport as you fly in. We will supply you with the forms to complete prior to your travel.
